I won’t get to it tonight, but as I’m going to have class tomorrow and will need SOMETHING to draw in my brand-new notebook, I feel like asking if anyone wants me to draw something for them. I’ll try to get them scanned in and stuff by the time I go home for winter break next week. :>

So, the last time I bought a sketchbook was a little more than a year ago, at the beginning of my fall semester last year. It was nice little thing, 80 pages of 65lb paper and was perfectly sized for doodling in class with.

I just recently filled it up entirely and, since I draw on the back and front of every page, that’s 160 pages of drawings. I can look back and see the progress I’ve made since taking life drawing, how my style dived back into cartoony over the summer and is slowly becoming ever-so-slightly more realistic now that I’m paying actual attention to it again. I mean, I had this thing for an entire YEAR.

And now I bought a new one. Guess which one it is. XD

You can’t see most of the scratches, dings, and tears in the old one because of the light, but DAMN is it messed up. The cardboard cover is actually getting harder to open and close because it’s a little fragile, the edges are round rather than pointed from long wear and tear, and the binding is all bent out of shape. But I feel sad leaving it, because I’ve had it so long. The new one is so shiny and new and perfect, so totally not me.

I think I’m the only one who gets sentimental over getting a new sketchbook LOLOL ;;; But yes, time to start on this new one and make it mine!

So, my life’s taken a somewhat unexpected turn (though not surprising), thanks to school. It’s possible that I’ll have to attend for one, maybe two more semesters, depending on how it gets cleared up.
SO. Opening commissions immediately. Since I know everyone’s wallets are pretty thin right now, I’m gonna make it simple. Everything is in $5 increments. Up to $5 gets you a sketch or paperchild/chibi, up to $10 gets you a lineart or colored sketch, up to $15 gets you a colored lineart, and bg’s are free when simple.

They’ll be done in a first-come, first-served order, and I will draw just about anything.

Looking back on my art from much earlier this year, I’m kinda … IDK. For a while there I was trying to be more realistic, and that was a good thing; my art changed because of life drawing class, and some of what changed was good.

Yet none of that is in my style now. I feel like I fell back onto the easier, more cartoony style lately, and that really bothers me. ;_; I want a beautiful, realistic style like Julie, or something gorgeous and elegant like Lai, or something that’s as perfect mix of realism and cartoon like Puck’s.

TL;DR Shera needs to make her style more realistic. ;_;

Um … wow. So, randomly on dA and briefly going through the Homestuck fanart (I do this sometimes, please don’t judge me XD), and I come across this person’s gallery.

In case it’s not immediately obvious, none of that belongs to them. It’s like they went out of their way to choose art from some of the most popular Homestuck artists and just uploaded thumbnails of the pictures or something. But of course, dA is excruciatingly slow about dealing with art thieves- and furthermore, even if we do send links to the originals, there’s always the possibility that they won’t take them down. It’s happened before.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m just gonna sit back and do nothing. I’ve only found the originals of a few of these and can’t hunt for any more right now, because I really should get to homework. But these are the ones I have found.

I’m sorry, Jamey…people just suck.

It’s terrible and its damaging to a person. I was bullied quite a lot as a child and because of it…I am a very self-conscious person.

Would you say it to their face? Hiding behind a computer screen while you attack someone does not make it okay to harass people!

My favorite stock artists on deviantArt, for my own reference, but also in case anyone wants some pretty sweet stock images (though most of these people are fairly well-known).

• ahrum-stock has the most insane poses. Seriously HQ dude.
• mjranum-stock has an incredible range of poses, costumes, models, lighting, and angles. Also verrryyyy HQ.
• senshistock has so many stock photos available it blows my mind. Not many different setups, but she always has unique poses and props.
• fairiegoodmother I just think the female model is really pretty.
• yellow-stock more pretty ladies, I’m sensing a pattern.
• felixdeon this dude has some of the weirdest gay fetish stock ever (that’s not true) but he also has an extensive gallery of male nude stock photos which is pretty hard to come by (heh heh come by).

I …  wow. I honestly shivered a little bit reading this, honestly. It’s not just the art that did it, although that’s gorgeous in and of itself. It’s the concept, the tone of voice, the perfect word choice and usage. I can’t tell you how perfect I feel this is. Just … the CONCEPT. And its execution. They’re both perfect, and sweetly melancholy, and beautiful.

It puts me in mind of Vellum and Ink, and also of Laitma’s stories. Especially Cras. Always Cras, always that angel-child chasing after the good ending that’ll never come. This feels like she could have written it.
